Let a man gain knowledge and acquire wisdom, lead a virtuous life ,bear malice to none and show all men the path, that leads to true happiness. Let his speech be sweet and kindly, blessed are they who always preach the truth and thereby promote righteousness and destroy sin and wickedness. With this mission the DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi joined hands with the NMDC Project to make this dream come true. This institution commenced its firm foundation on 1st Sept. 1990 and it has completed its 24 years of dedicated service for the children of kirandul. On this auspicious occasion and the Silver Jubilee Celebration I extend my Heartiest thanks to all the dignitaries, Principals ,teachers ,students, parents and all those who are directly or indirectly associated with this institution. In this age of challenge serious consideration in terms of educational interventions in the area of life skills to cope with the process of growing up, drugs abuse and HIV. Mere dissemination of information, we have seen in our experience is not enough to empower the children .Awareness should go hand in hand with skill development and attitude building. Children should learn to think critically, solve problems, and make judicious choices. This requires a wide range of thinking and decision making competencies so that they can exhibit assertive behaviour while saying “NO” to unhealthy practices. In a fast changing world children need all the support and training so that they are able to cope with the new demands cropping up in the process of growing up.As a theme of Excellence mere success cannot be equated with excellence. It is a process, a journey that takes us in the pursuit of constant improvement. There can be no place for complacency and we cannot rest on our laurels. We should keep moving, keep learning and keep improving. We all are committed and we should strive for nothing short of excellence in all our endeavour and for creating our school as “Center of Excellence”.New vista’s of careers are opening up and new horizons are beckoning us towards Careers Unlimited. If we pursue excellence, we will surely provide the right opportunities for the students community.I congratulate all the teachers & students who have contributed their articles on various topics in this Magazine, all the students who brought laurels to the Institutions through their achievements in various fields and the members of the Editorial Board for successfulcompletion of this Special Issue. Let us all do more than expected.
